Proverbs 27:23-27 NKJV

23 Be diligent to know the state of your flocks,

And attend to your herds;

24 For riches are not forever,

Nor does a crown endure to all generations.

25 When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows > itself,

And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in,

26 The lambs will provide your clothing,

And the goats the price of a field;

27 You shall have enough goats’ milk for your food,

For the food of your household,

And the nourishment of your maidservants.

The world wants cheap and easy work. But that kind of work doesn’t bring food that lasts. Just because God tells us to work from rest, it doesn’t mean we become lazy. In fact, when we become more like Jesus, we end up becoming more diligent.

And diligence is the key to having good success and riches. The riches that truly prosper you and not get you into trouble with authority. For in this verse, it says, “be diligent to know the state of your flocks”. In today’s context, it could mean taking stock of where your time, effort, and money are going. Do you feel like you’re going around in circles in your career? How long do you spend time on social media? Etc.
