Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV

7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

And whose hope is the Lord.

8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,

Which spreads out its roots by the river,

And will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,

And will not be anxious in the year of drought,

Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Did you know trusting the Lord comes with amazing promises? Jeremiah 17 tells us what happens to those who do so.

The first promise is that you shall be “blessed”. Blessed are you who trust in Him and who put your hope in Him!

Then the passage goes on to say that you shall be like a tree planted by the rivers. Water is life to a tree. A tree uses water to transport nutrients within itself. So, to be planted by rivers of water is to say, when you put your trust in Jesus, He plants you where you’ll receive good spiritual food that nourishes you.

Your roots will also spread out. When a tree’s roots spread out it goes deep. And the deeper the roots go into the ground the more unshakable the tree becomes. And you-tree shall become undevourable.

Your leaf shall remain green when heat comes. You shall not be anxious in the year of drought and will not cease yielding fruit. Why? Because you know the Lord is your supply not the world.

So, remember to stay planted in a local Christ-centred, Bible-based church, amen!
