Proverbs 19:2 NKJV

Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge,

And he sins who hastens with his feet.

In this day and age when we are living in dark times, it’s all the more important that we don’t stay ignorant of the times we’re living in.

Which is the emphasis of the verse today. “It is not good for a soul to be without knowledge”. In other words, seek the Lord and wise, godly counsel before making significant decisions—especially if you’re a figure in authority. Yes, men. If you have a family, you ARE an authority figure too. You’re responsible for your family’s well-being. Yes, don’t rely on your efforts to support them, but rely on Jesus’ grace, but it’s the heart posture that I’m talking about.

Make sure you, husbands and fathers stay informed and understand the consequences of the decisions you make for your family. Because the same verse in this Proverb says, “he sins who hastens with his feet.” That means anyone who makes hasty decisions, sins. Yep, if you just make decisions based on your feelings and logic without seeking the Lord and wise Christ-centred counsel, you sin. Because your family has to bear the consequences of your decisions.

So, men in the house, I pray you humble yourself as unto the Lord and seek Him, and the wise counsel He’s placed around you before making significant decisions, especially if you have a family, amen!
